Being yourself can be hard sometimes. It is actually quite difficult, especially when you are a shy person.
Have you ever been shy?
Then you know it is very uncomfortable feeling.
When I entered my teenage years, I became extremely shy. My school work was affected by it, because I would not raise my hand to
ask questions. In front of my friends I was very talkative, actually some of them thought I'm talking a bit too much. But whenever I met new people I couldn't talk. Thought of making a good impression put me in a scary situation.
Shyness prevented me from speaking up and expressing my own opinions. I prefered to be quiet just so no one could judge me negatively.
I'm sure many of you came in contact with a shy person, some of you might tried to give them advice by saying; just be yourself, it's gonna be fine, just be confident.
But giving a person advice like (be yourself) or (be strong) will usually do nothing to help that person overcome shyness and help them to become more confident.
Why?
Because none of these things are easy to do, not for someone who is shy. Most people would really love to just be themselves and confident. But they simply can’t do it like that.
Shyness makes it difficult to talk to a new people, make new friends, or enjoy potentially good experiences life brings.
Did you know Gandhi was shy?
From an early age, he was a very shy person. Even as a
lawyer in his early 30s, he was so shy that he could barely speak in
front of a judge. It was until he found
the right cause. Once you learn how to overcome your shyness,
every other barrier in life will be easy in comparison.
It
is very hard to overcome shyness, but with a help of positive thinking
and affirmations you can make it situation better. It is important to realize that you can control your thoughts and your feelings.

Your list of possitive affirmations is going to have an effect. It might be a very strong and quick effect or it might take weeks or months. It all depends on you.
If you take these affirmations seriously and make them a part of your daily routine, you will overcome shyness. Positive affirmations allow you to develop a positive mindset and affirmations
are one of the most powerful strategies in life to help you get closer to your confidence.
Important note!
When you are shy you are quiet and being quiet leads to a calming effect on others. Also, shy people can appear to others to be innocent, good and nice.
See, even being shy can have some great strengths. :-)
''Sometimes the people you think don't want to talk to you, are the ones waiting for you to talk to them.''

''Other people's opinion of you does not have to become your reality.''

''The best way to gain self-confidence is to do what you are afraid to do.''

''A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her.''
~David Brinkley~
This is such an insightful writing. I am a shy person who likes to embrace myself for who I am. It is always the cliche "be yourself" being contradictory to the desired image I wish to adhere to. It is perhaps right to say that we constantly redefine ourselves in our life journeys.
