Well, that day I felt she really needs it, so I gave her small change.
My friend looked at me and asked:''Why did you give her money?''
''She looked like she needs it'' I answered.
''Yes, but if she needs it, she can go and find a job, she is young'' my friend continued.
''I don't know, I just had a feeling she needs it, plus we don't know what really happened to her that made her to do that.'' I tried to explained my friend.
We stopped talking about it and continue our journey. When we got out of the tube, we saw an older man outside, once again beg for money. He looked very sad, dressed in old clothes, but there was still something nice about him in his eyes. Everyone was passing him by, but even though he didn't get any money, he kept wishing everyone a lovely day.
I couldn't help myself and gave him small change. He looked at me, smilled and then he thanked me and wished me a lovely day.
''I don't believe it'' my friend told me looking at me angry.
''What are you doing?'' she continued.
''Nothing, I just feel he needs it, plus it's not like I'm giving people money every day.'' I tried to explain my action.
Later on I met my boyfriend and since it was Friday night, we decided to go a little bit out to our favorite bar for a couple of drinks. We sat down and my boyfriend put his cigarettes on the table. As soon as he did that a passer stopped by, asked him for a cigarette and my boyfriend gave him two.
''It's Friday night and weekend is in front of us, so let's be nice'' he told and winked at me.
After that we enjoyed our evening.
We had two drinks each and a big portion of fries.
Later on we asked waiter for our bill. Few minutes later different guy came to our table. It was a manager of the restaurant. He shook our hands and told my boyfriend:
''Hey, it's good to see you guys again, it's been a while since I saw you two. What can I get for you?''
''Nothing, thank you, we just asked for the bill.''
''Oh, in that case, let me take care of it'' he continued.
''No, no, it's fine'' my boyfriend insist.
''Please, let me take care of it. Tonight it's on me and also, hope to see you soon again.''
He shook our hands again and we left without paying.
I know some of you thing it's nothing special, but for me it was a proof that if you do something nice for someone it will definitely come back to you. I found this to be true.
How we treat life is how we will be treated by life in return. If you treat life with unconditional love, respect, appreciation, then you will take pleasure in all life has to offer.
"I really believe when you give to other people, you give to yourself."
“Do right. Do your best. Treat others as you want to be treated.”
